This painting began on an early morning walk along Gullane Beach — the kind of morning that feels like it belongs only to you. The tide had pulled back, the sand was still unmarked, and the sky held that thin, clear light that only comes before the day fills up.

I wasn't trying to paint the scene. I was trying to hold the feeling of arriving somewhere before it disappears.

At 120 × 100 cm, Gullane, Early has genuine presence. It slows a room down. The layered coastal tones — washes of pale grey, sand, and muted blue — bring light without noise, space without emptiness. This is a painting for a room that takes its calm seriously.
