Everything Was Possible Here
Everything Was Possible Here
Some places hold a feeling long after you leave. This is one of them.
There are certain points on the East Lothian coast where you stop, and something shifts. The sky opens. The sea does something with the light. And for a moment, everything feels genuinely possible — not as a thought, but as a physical sensation in your chest.
This painting is that moment. The soft cloud formations, the layered horizon, the sense of enormity held gently. I kept coming back to this canvas because I didn't want to lose the feeling before I'd finished finding it.
Everything Was Possible Here brings a sense of openness without drama. The soft blues, greens and warm undertones create a layered depth that changes through the day as the light in your room changes. It's a painting for living with — the kind you see differently each time.
I painted this on a Wednesday — my one day a week that isn't teaching or admin or everything else. The whole painting carries that particular quality of stolen time: focused, quiet, fully present.
